BALLOON CATHETER

[Problem] To provide a balloon catheter whereby it becomes possible to raise the temperature of a blood vessel that is in contact with a balloon to a desired temperature within a short time by heating a heat-generating member highly efficiently. [Solution] A balloon catheter (10) is equipped with: a shaft (12) which has an elastically expandable balloon (11) attached on a tip side thereof, and also has a space arranged in the inside of the shaft and enabling the inflow of a fluid into the balloon (11) and the outflow of the fluid from the balloon (11); a heat-generating member (22) which is arranged in the interior space of the balloon (11); and optical fibers (20A, 20B) which extend to the interior space of the balloon (11) along the shaft (12), and through which light input to a base end can be emitted, at the tip thereof, to the heat-generating member (22).
