<p>Abstract The disclosed flood activated warning system is a self-powered, self-automated system activated by either the submersion of a sensor in water or a text message from a predetermined number. There are two water sensors, situated at separate heights to represent rises in the body of water. The activation triggers an electrical process that results in one of three predetermined messages displayed on a road-visible LED board, depending on whether the signal was received from the lower or higher sensor, or the pre-registered mobile phone. If activated by the water sensors, the electrical process not only triggers the display of a predetermined message on the road-visible LED board, but also the GSM controller - or industry equivalent - which sends a text message to a predetermined number delineating the relevant information garnered from the system. Upon the water level receding to such a degree that the higher sensor is no longer submerged, the lower sensor remains triggered and prompts the display of the corresponding predetermined message on the LED board. The electrical process is controlled by a microcontroller, relay shield, and series of corresponding digital pins.</p> |
