摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of manufacturing a glass material having superior homogeneity in a container-less floating method.SOLUTION: There is provided a manufacturing method for a glass material in which the glass material is obtained by cooling molten glass after obtaining the molten glass by heating and fusing a glass raw material ingot 12 by irradiation with a plurality of laser light beams 13A, 13B in a state in which the glass raw material ingot 12 is floated and held. The plurality of laser light beams include the first laser light beam 13A and second laser light beam 13B. The manufacturing method for the glass material is characterized in that the angle (&thetas;) that the first laser light beam 13A and second laser light beam 13B contain is 0 to less than 180°, and the position of the center of a spot of the first laser light beam 13 on a surface of the glass raw material ingot 12 and the position of the center of a spot of the second laser light beam 13B on the surface of the glass raw material ingo 12 are different from each other.
