PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent displacement between a TFT substrate and a counter substrate when pressing pressure is applied to a liquid crystal display device externally, and to prevent scraping of an alignment film caused by a columnar spacer.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device has liquid crystal sandwiched between a first substrate having a recess 30 and an upper part except it and a second substrate having a frist columnar spacer 10 and a second columnar spacer 20. The first columnar spacer 10 comes in contact with the upper part of the first substrate, and the second columnar spacer 20 is inserted into the recess of the first substrate. Spaces exist in a tip of the second columnar spacer 20 and in a bottom part of the recess. The height of the second columnar spacer 20 is taller than the height of the first columnar spacer 10. |
