PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal energy recovery device which enables improvement of the power recovery efficiency while cooling an electric motor of a pump.SOLUTION: A thermal energy recovery device includes: an evaporator (10); an expander (14); a power recovery machine(16); a condenser (18); a circulation passage (30); a pump (20) which is provided in the circulation passage (30) and branches a part of a working medium flowing thereinto from the circulation passage (30) as a branch medium; and a branch passage (32) for flowing the branch medium. The pump (20) includes: an electric motor (24); a first passage (26) connected with the circulation passage (30); and a second passage (28) which branches a part of the working medium flowing in the first passage (26) as a branch medium and is disposed so that the electric motor (24) is cooled by the branch medium flowing therein. The branch passage (32) connects the second passage (28) with a middle part of the expander (14).
