PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator which enables users to easily get on and off a carrier.SOLUTION: An elevator 10 includes: a carrier 60; a door opening/closing mechanism 90; a post 20; a driving part electric motor 57; and a speed reducer 58 and a pinion 56 which convert rotation of an output shaft of the driving part electric motor 57 into movement of the carrier 60 along the post 20. The carrier 60 includes: a carrier body 61 in which an opening 62 is formed; and a door 70 which opens and closes the opening 62. The door opening/closing mechanism 90 moves the door 70 between a closed position and an open position located above the closed position. The post 20 guides movement of the carrier 60. The driving part electric motor 57 is fixed to a portion of the carrier 60, which is located above an upper surface 63a of a bottom wall part 63 of the carrier body 61, to be positioned thereat.
