PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide solutions for local ocular delivery of multiple active agents that act on a plurality of differing molecular targets in order to perioperatively inhibit inflammation, inhibit pain, effect mydriasis (dilation of the pupil), and/or decrease intraocular pressure.SOLUTION: The invention relates to perioperative irrigation solutions for use during ophthalmologic procedures in order to inhibit inflammation, inhibit pain, effect mydriasis, and/or decrease intraocular pressure during the procedures. Each solution contains at least first and second therapeutic agents in a liquid irrigation carrier. The first and second therapeutic agents are selected to act on a plurality of differing molecular targets, and selected from the physiologic functional classes of anti-inflammatory agents, analgesic agents, mydriatic agents and agents for decreasing intraocular pressure ("IOP reducing agents"). The second agent provides at least one physiologic function different than functions provided by the first agent. Each agent is included at a concentration of 100,000 nM or less. |
