The invention relates to a method for monitoring the travel state of a vehicle, particularly a rail vehicle, in which a wheel speed signal (SR) is acquired from a drive wheel of the vehicle by means of a pulse generator device (2). In order to be able to perform such a method comparatively simply and reliably, the time characteristic of the wheel speed signal (SR) is ascertained and sudden changes in the time characteristic of the wheel speed signal (SR) are detected. If a prescribed limit value for the sudden changes in the time characteristic of the wheel speed signal (SR) has instances of being exceeded, a slippage indicator signal (SH1) is produced. Advantageously, an acceleration sensor (12) is used to acquire, at a time parallel to the acquisition of the wheel speed signal (SR), the time characteristic of an acceleration signal (SB), and sudden acceleration changes are detected in the time characteristic of the acceleration signal (SB). If a prescribed threshold value for the sudden acceleration changes has instances of being exceeded, a further slippage indicator signal (SH2) is produced and a slippage signal (SS) is produced if the one slippage indicator signal (SH1) and the further slippage indicator signal (SH2) occur simultaneously. The invention also relates to an arrangement for monitoring the travel state of a vehicle and to a vehicle having such an arrangement. |
