983,977. Cold separation of gas mixtures. CONCH INTERNATIONAL METHANE Ltd. Feb. 11, 1964, No. 5743/64. Heading F4P. A mixture of liquefied hydrocarbon gases, e.g. natural gas is in part vaporized at constant pressure in an exchanger 2 traversed by a first medium, e.g. ethylene gas which is thereby condensed and rendered available as a source of cold and the remaining liquid is vaporized in a second exchanger 9 traversed by a second medium, e.g. propane gas, which is thereby condensed and made available as a refrigerant; the resulting gas rich in high-boiling components being discharged through a duct 10 whereas the low boiling components are discharged through a duct 3. The rich liquid leaving exchanger 2 is pressurized by a pump 7 before entering exchanger 9. |
