<p>A process for reducing the viscosity of clay/water suspensions containing 60-73% solids comprises the step of mixing them in a high intensity agitator, the rotating unit of which has a peripheral speed of at least 3000 f.p.m. The process is used for crude and refined clays. Small quantities of a chemical dispersing agent may be added e.g. 1% of tetrasodium pyrophosphate.</p> |
