The present invention relates to a method to manufacture a stainless steel ingot used as a tableware material or a material for mechanical parts. In the past, there has been a problem where an inside of a smelting furnace is damaged in case of using a welding material; and also, there have been problems where the quality is degraded by the slag. In order to solve the above mentioned problems, in the method to manufacture the stainless steel ingot, the invention comprises: an initial melting process of inserting the welding material of 10-20 wt% of a total amount into the smelting furnace, and then dissolving the inserted welding material; a welding material melting process of inserting the welding material of 80-90 wt% of the total melting amount into the smelting furnace, and then melting the inserted welding material; and a slag removal process of removing the slag formed during melting in the welding material melting process, and silicon of 1-3 wt% of the total melting amount inserted during the initial melting process. Additionally, the slag removal process comprises: a borax insertion process of removing the slag by inserting borax during melting, and a slack insertion process of removing the slag by inserting the slack during melting. As such, the method of the present invention reduces manufacturing costs using the welding material as a main material and minimizes damage in the smelting furnace by achieving stabilization in an initial smelting furnace; and remarkably improves product quality by easily removing impurities such as slag during manufacturing. |
