Monomeric isocyanates having at least two isocyanate groups per molecule are dissolved in a solution in an organic solvent of a film-forming protective substance which is chemically inert towards the isocyanate and towards water, and the resulting solution is spray-dried to produce a finely-divided product in which a core comprising the isocyanate is confined by a solid envelope of a film of the protective substance.
