<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module, in a manufacturing process of which, a step of forming a clad in an internal waveguide can be reasonably skipped. <P>SOLUTION: The optical module includes a substrate 1 in which a first groove 1a and a second groove 1b are continuously formed, a core 17 of an internal waveguide 16 arranged in the first groove 1a, and a mirror 15 for converting an optical path and arranged at a tip end of the first groove 1a. The optical module further includes optical elements 12a and 12b mounted on the surface of the substrate 1, an under-fill material 13 charged between the optical elements 12a and 12b and the substrate 1, and an optical fiber 2 positioned and fixed in the second groove 1b with an optical adhesive 14. A clad 18 of the internal waveguide 16 is formed by using at least one of the optical adhesive 14 and the under-fill material 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
