Disclosed is a method for encoding an image according to the importance in a screen. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for encoding an image comprises the following steps of: detecting one or more important areas from an inputted image frame; dividing the image frame into a plurality of macro-blocks; determining whether each of the divided macro-blocks belongs to the important areas; and encoding the macro-blocks with a different compression rate for each macro-block, based on the determination result.
