<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grease composition more improved in flame retardancy and self-extinguishing properties than conventional grease compositions, thereby lowering the risk of causing a fire in a variety of mechanical appliances. <P>SOLUTION: This flame-retardant grease composition contains: a thickener; a base oil; and a phosphazene compound, especially a cyclic phosphazene compound expressed by structural formula (1): (NPR<SP POS="POST">1</SP><SB POS="POST">2</SB>)<SB POS="POST">n</SB>, wherein R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>s are each a halogen atom or a monovalent group, the R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>s may be the same as or different from one another, and n is 3 to 15.
