The present invention relates to a method for recycling a waste optical fiber. The present invention provides the method for recycling the waste optical fiber comprising: a first step of obtaining a grinding material which includes GeO2, SiO2, and resins by grinding the waste optical fiber separated from a waste optical cable; a second step of obtaining a mixture which includes GeO2, SiO2, and resin solutions by mixing the grinding material with an organic solvent; a third step of depositing an inorganic material including GeO2 and SiO2 in the mixture through a specific gravity difference and separating the inorganic material including GeO2 and SiO2 from the mixture; a fourth step of obtaining a reaction product which includes GeCl4 and SiCl4 by reacting the separated inorganic material to at least one selected from hydrochloric acid (HCl) and chlorine (Cl2); and a fifth step of separating GeCl4 and SiCl4 from the reaction product and obtaining GeCl4 and SiCl4. According to the present invention, expensive resources can be effectively separated and collected from the waste optical fiber of the waste optical cable. |
