A device to aid alignment when hanging a number of pictures on a wall. The device comprises a generally triangular plate with notches 2 and cord-receiving channels 3. In use, the picture hanging cord (not shown) is placed in the channels 3 and is engaged by gripping means 4 within the channels 3. The plate is attached to hooks or nails (6, figures 10-12) in the wall and the cord is pulled upwardly through the channels to raise the picture relative to the plate. The gripping means 4 are directional, allowing the cord to be pulled upwardly through the channels but preventing it slipping back down. The loop of cord (5, figure 7) formed by pulling the cord through the channels is positioned into two cord pinching notches 2 to assist in securing the cord. The plate includes a number of picture hook or nail engaging apertures or notches. The plate allows a picture to be raised once hung on nails or picture hooks, and allows the picture to be levelled if the nails or picture hooks are not horizontally aligned. |
