PURPOSE:To keep the electrical, optical and photoconductive characteristics of a light receiving member preactically stable at all times with little dependency on the service environment by incorporating a prescribed amount of hydrogen into the surface layer. CONSTITUTION:A light receiving layer 100 is formed on a support 101 for a light receiving member to obtain a light receiving member for electrophotography. The layer 100 consists of a photosensitive layer 106 sensitive to light having long wavelength and made of a polycrystalline material contg. silicon and germanium, a charge implantation hindering layer 102, a photoconductive layer 103 of a-Si (H,X), and a surface layer 104. The surface layer 104 is made of an amorphous material contg. silicon, carbon and hydrogen as the constituents and having 41-70 atomic% hydrogen content. An image forming stage is not affected at all by residual potential and high quality images having high resolution can be obtd. stably and repeatedly. |
