The present invention relates to a tape measure with improved convenience which secures safety of a user from a steel tape acting like a blade of a knife as well as reducing noise when being inserted into a housing, and can also maximize portability through compactness. The tape measure of the present invention comprises: a housing (100) which has a withdrawal hole (130) formed for a steel tape (120) to appear; a bobbin (200) located in the housing (100), having a spiral spring providing an elastic force to be rotated along a winding direction of the steel tape (120); a pair of guide barriers (610) comprised on a lower part and an upper part of the housing (100) adjacent to the withdrawal hole (130) of the housing (100); a cover member (630) which moves forwards and backwards by being guided by a guide barrier (610) in the guide barrier (610), and formed to surround the steel tape (120), having a hooking protrusion (620) formed on a lower side to be hooked to the withdrawal hole (130) on a rear part, and has a front part to cover a lower plane of the steel tape (120) only; a combing protrusion (640) formed on a lower plane of the front part of the steel tape (120); a combining groove part (650) formed on an upper plane of the front part of the cover member (630), and combined to the combining protrusion (640) when the steel tape (120) is not withdrawn; and a hand cutting preventing unit. |
