The present invention relates to a cooling device and a method for controlling the same. The cooling device comprises: a coolant pipe containing a polymer material; and a power source unit supplying a heating power source for the self-heating of the coolant pipe to the coolant pipe. Provided are the cooling device and the method for controlling the cooling device providing high efficiency by enabling the coolant pipe to heat itself without an additional heating unit.
