A ball and socket joint comprises a ball B formed in two symmetrical elements 14, 16 having facing grooves 30 within which is located a helical spring 24 which urges the elements into contact with a seat in a linkage A. A cylindrical collar 32 can abut the linkage A to limit the movement of the ball in the seat. The seat for the ball is formed by attaching a plate A1 to the linkage A by means of rivets. The ball B may be made of metal or of polyethylene or a polymid resin and a part of the seat in the linkage may be made of plastics material. |
