The present invention relates to a display device which can increase reliability by raising adhesion of an upper substrate and a lower substrate, and a manufacturing method thereof. The method includes the following steps: dividing a non-display area into a first area in which multiple signal lines and multiple switching devices are formed, and a second area located on an outer side of the first area; and forming a first groove of a protective film in the first area, and a second groove of the protective film, which is deeper than the first groove, in the second area at the same time. An organic dielectric film is front-deposited in the remaining area except for respective inclined planes of the first and second grooves and peripheral portions of the inclined planes.
