<p>A connector 3 for connecting a suction member 9, e.g. a hose, to a surface cleaning apparatus, such as vacuum cleaner, the connector 3 comprising a tubular body having a distal end configured to receive and retain the suction member 9 and a proximal end configured to receive an outlet of the vacuum cleaner (Fig 3, 5); wherein the tubular body is provided with an external rotatable sleeve member 15 that has at least one projection 17 configured to engage a corresponding formation of the outlet (Fig 3, 5) and form a rotatable snap-fit connection, which is preferably spring-loaded towards the outlet (Fig 3, 5); and at least one electrical connection ring 23, e.g. a slip ring, located about the proximal end of the connector 3 configured to contact at least one corresponding electrical connector (Fig 3, 29) of the outlet (Fig 3, 5) to transmit electrical power from the apparatus to the suction member 9. Preferably, the external sleeve member 15 comprises a ring 7 comprising the projection(s) 17 which project inwardly towards the tubular body; and at least one abutment 6 configured to engage with and exert a force on the projection(s) 17 to disengage them when the rotatable sleeve member 15 is pulled away from the outlet (Fig 3, 5).</p> |
