<p>A separating floor comprises a plurality of first and second timber joists 16, 18. Each of the first joists 16 has a portion of one end removed to provide a first elongate section 20 at an upper edge for locating in a masonry wall 12. Each of the second joists 18 has a portion of one end removed to provide a first elongate section 32 at a lower edge for locating in the masonry wall. A ceiling 25 is located across the lower and shorter edges 26 of the first joists, and a floor 38 is located across the upper and shorter edges 36 of the second joists. Preferably elongate sections are provided at each end of each joist for locating in spaced walls 12, 14. Preferably the elongate sections of each joist lie on a single level of the walls. The elongate sections may all be the same size, and may be the height of a standard brick or block.</p> |
