PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten steel vessel in an approximately elliptic form, which allows lining refractory bricks linearly arranged at a straight line part of a steel shell to hardly cause falling out inside the molten steel vessel or spalling.SOLUTION: A vacuum degasser has a vacuum tank 1 including a cylindrical steel shell 11 with a horizontal cross-sectional shape in an approximately elliptic form and a plurality of refractory bricks 13 with which the steel shell 11 is lined. A straight line part of the steel shell 11 is lined with the lining refractory bricks 13A, 13B, and 13C, which are arranged in a straight line form. The brick has a quadrangular prism shape having an approximately trapezoid horizontal cross section having a width tapered toward the inner end side, with the inner side end width smaller than the outer side end width. Further, a brick group 30 including the lining refractory bricks 13A, 13B, and 13C at the straight line part of the steel shell 11 has an approximately trapezoid horizontal cross section as a whole having a width tapered toward the inner end side, with the inner side end width smaller than the outer side end width of the brick group 30. |
