A frame structure 1 for a vehicle side door (100, Figure 6) comprises at least two tubular parts 2, 3, preferably extruded and/or of light metal, formed by bending in the direction of their longitudinal extension and connected to each other, for example using a plug connection 5, 6, to form a ring structure 4. Optionally, parts 2, 3 may be heat-formed. Also disclosed is a unit comprising a frame structure 1 and a crash reinforcement (110, Figure 6), which may be glued to frame structure 1, and a door comprising frame structure 1, an outer skin (140, Figure 6) and a framework structure (150, Figure 6). Typically frame structure 1 and the reinforcement may be treated against corrosion by priming. Frame structure 1 may allow a lightweight door construction. |
