Cognitive performance with sirtuin activators

Provided herein are methods and compositions for enhancing the cognitive performance of a subject in need thereof. A method may include administering to a subject an agent that increases the level of protein or activity of a sirtuin, such as SIRT1.

1. A method for improving cognitive performance in a mammalian subject, comprising
(i) determining the cognitive performance of a mammalian subject; (ii) comparing the cognitive performance of the mammalian subject to a control value; and (iii) administering to the mammalian subject a SIRT1-activating agent if the cognitive performance of the mammalian subject is lower than the control value, wherein the SIRT1-activating agent is a non-naturally occurring compound, and wherein the SIRT1-activating agent is not a stilbene, flavone or flavonoid.
