1. A brake beam strut protector for protecting against wear of a brake beam strut slot surface of a brake beam strut, comprising
a first body, a wear surface on the first body for contacting a brake lever positioned in a slot of a brake beam strut and for spacing the brake lever away from the brake beam strut slot surface, and means for mounting the first body in place at the brake beam strut; a first post positioned on a first end portion of the first body, a second post positioned on a second end portion of the first body, the first post and the second post each having a front surface portion that is positioned above and parallel to a plane in which the wear surface sits, the first post and the second post each having a lower post portion, the lower post portions having a rear surface portion that is positioned below and parallel to the plane of the wear surface of the first body, and the lower post portions being sized to fit snugly in the slot of the brake beam strut.
