A method of manufacturing an electrode, comprising: printing a first electrode ink on a first substrate such that the first electrode ink defines a pattern on the first substrate, the pattern on the first substrate including a plurality of substantially similar shaped portions, each portion being separated from every other portion; allowing the first electrode ink to dry on the first substrate; printing a separator material on top of at least one portion of the plurality of substantially similar shaped portions included in the pattern defined by the dried first electrode ink on the first substrate; printing a second electrode ink on a second substrate; allowing the second electrode ink to dry on the second substrate; and folding the first substrate with the second substrate to couple a portion of the second substrate with the at least one portion of the first substrate such that the second electrode ink contacts the separator material.
