A computer-implemented method for data loss prevention may include (1) identifying a network configured with a data loss prevention system, (2) identifying a file subject to a data loss prevention assessment within the network, (3) identifying an origin of the file, (4) determining that the origin of the file is outside the network, and (5) determining that the origin of the second file does not contain sensitive information intended to be protected by the data loss prevention system. 1. A computer-implemented method for data loss prevention, at least a portion of the method being performed by a computing device comprising at least one processor, the method comprising:
identifying a network configured with a data loss prevention system; identifying a file within the network, the file being subject to a data loss prevention assessment by the data loss prevention system; identifying an origin of the file from which the file entered the network; determining that the origin of the file is outside of the network; determining, based at least in part on determining that the origin of the file is outside of the network, that the origin of the file does not contain sensitive information intended to be protected by the data loss prevention system; determining, based at least in part on determining that the origin of the file does not contain sensitive information intended to be protected by the data loss prevention system, that the file is not subject to a data loss prevention policy of the data loss prevention system; causing, based at least in part on determining that the file is not subject to the data loss prevention policy, the data loss prevention system to allow rather than restrict a use of the file.
