Provided is a method for displaying an image to protect an eye of a viewer. The method for displaying an image includes: displaying a content image on a display unit; selecting a change area in the whole area of the content image; separating the content image into a left-side image and a right-side image for the change area to have a three-dimensional effect from a neighboring area; and modifying the three-dimensional effect of the change area by modifying the distance between the left-side image and the right-side image on the basis of a modifying reference view repeated at a predetermined period.
