The present invention relates to a method for activating a user interface of an electronic device. The method for activating a user interface of an electronic device comprises the following steps of: enabling a display unit to detect a touch input event in one area of a locked state screen; enabling a control unit to determine whether the touch input event is maintained for a preset threshold time; and enabling the control unit to control to display a user interface which provides a preset function on the screen based on a result of determination on whether the touch input event is maintained. The above embodiment is not limited and other embodiments are possible.
