1. A method for treating a disease or disorder of the eye comprising injecting into the eye a composition comprising:
a silicon-containing material comprising a plurality of pores, wherein the pores contain a drug, further wherein the silicon-containing material is heated in an oxidizing environment at a temperature above 600° C. before the drug is contacted with the silicon-containing material.
