BLACK BOX APPARATUS FOR DIAGNOSING ERROR OF ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT FOR VEHICLE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

The present invention relates to a method for controlling a black box apparatus and a black box apparatus integrally managed for diagnosing a defect of a vehicle by recording all data related to abnormal operations in the black box apparatus to be backed up when the abnormal operations occur in a plurality of electronic control units (ECU) inside the vehicle. According to the present invention, the black box apparatus comprises: a CAN module receiving a message related to occurrence of the abnormal operations from the ECUs inside the vehicle through CAN communications; a wireless communications module for communicating with an external server; and a microcontroller unit (MCU) determining whether or not the message received from the CAN module indicates the critical defect, dumping the received message to be transmitted to the external server through the wireless communications module when the CAN module indicates the critical defect, and storing the received message in a database to be backed up when the CAN module indicates the simple defect.
