The Specification relates to an electrical connector suitable for tapping a supply from a power-distribution track, of the type described and claimed in Specifications 1,000,923, 1,000,924, 1,000,929 and 1,000,930, which has an insulating strip 23 supporting conductors 28, 29 to which access is possible only in the horizontal direction. The plug assembly consists of a housing 35 in one part of which is a spring clip 83 the sides of which are forced apart by a finger screw 88 so that the upper parts 81, 82 grip the channel flanges 16, 17 to support the housing. In the other part of the housing, rotatably mounted in a sleeve bearing 46, is the contact carrying member which consists of a cylinder 51 through which pass conducting strips 61, 62 held in position and apart by spacer 53. The tops of these strips are bent over to form the contacts. Locking flanges 73, 74 ride on the lower inner surface of the channel when the cylinder is turned by a handle 76 extending through slot 77. Housing 36 is formed with a notch 91 which receives a bead on the channel thus ensuring correct orientation of the connector with respect to the track. If the connector is reversed and the head is not in alignment with notch 91, locking flanges 73, 74 abut against the inner edge of flanges 16, 17 when the plug is rotated thus preventing electrical connection.</p> |
