BALLAST WATER TREATMENT METHOD

Disclosed is a ballast water treatment method. The ballast water treatment method according to an embodiment of the present invention treats ballast water by using: a transportation pipe where the ballast water is transported; a ballast water storage tank which is connected to the transportation pipe and stores the ballast water; and a sterilization substance generation unit which supplies a current to an electrode by operating a rectifier and generates a sterilization substance by the electrode and then supplies the sterilization substance to the transportation pipe through a flow regulation valve. The ballast water treatment method of the present invention may include the steps of: injecting the sterilization substance into a pipe where the ballast water is transported by opening the flow regulation valve; measuring concentration of the sterilization substance of the ballast water flowed into the ballast water storage tank and then comparing the measured concentration with reference concentration; maintaining a current state of injection amount of the sterilization substance if the measured concentration of the sterilization substance is equal to the reference concentration; increasing opening of the flow regulation valve gradually and increasing a current value of the rectifier until the re-measured concentration of the sterilization substance is included in the reference concentration, if the measured concentration of the sterilization substance is less than the reference concentration; and decreasing opening of the flow regulation valve gradually and decreasing the current value of the rectifier until the re-measured concentration of the sterilization substance is included in the reference concentration, if the measured concentration of the sterilization substance is higher than the reference concentration.
