The existing system has a limited lifespan due the processes involved in preparing the fuel for delivery not being cost effective. The two forms of waste wood currently in use are Pelletized raw, dried wood and Torrefied dried wood. The Torrefied product is a new product that is receiving general acceptance as the clean more efficient fuel of the future. If the vast quantities of wood not of lumber quality available worldwide are to be harvested then the cost of production and delivery to the market have to be reduced to make harvesting cost effective and therefore viable. The product has to be compatible with the bulk shipment systems used by the current fossil coal transportation systems. The product must have similar physical and burning qualities as fossil coal. Heat values in the range 19 to 26 Gigajoules per Tonne. Grind ability standard within the current standards. Water resistant and ambient conditions that permits outside uncovered storage. Meet safety standards during production and transportation. Have low dust and bio gas release levels. |
