1,002,230. Base fabric for knotted pile carpets. W. GEORGII, and H. GEORGII, [trading as FIRMA ZWEIGANT & SAWITZKl]. Oct. 11,1963 [June 10,1963], No. 40320/63. Heading D1K. A base fabric for making knotted pile carpets by hand is of double plain weave, the two sets of yarns being of different colours and being interchanged to indicate to the operator the colour of pile tuft to be applied. Pairs of weft threads 6, 7 and 8, 9 are woven into the lower ply and floated on the upper surface to receive the pile knots. The threads 6-9 may shrink less than the rest of the fabric so as to lie loose for ease of knotting. A backing of latex may be applied to the fabric.
|
