Method for manufacturing ashless coal

Provided is a method for manufacturing ashless coal capable of cheaply and very efficiently manufacturing ashless coal from which the ash portion has been adequately removed, even when manufacturing ashless coal in, for example, a coal producing region having little leeway for selecting the type of raw material (coal). A method for manufacturing ashless coal comprising: an extraction step for heating a slurry obtained by mixing coal and a solvent, and extracting the coal components soluble in the solvent; a separation step for separating the slurry obtained in the extraction step into a liquid solution including the coal components soluble in the solvent, and a solid-concentrate liquid in which the coal components not soluble in the solvent are concentrated; and an ashless-coal acquisition step for evaporatively separating the solvent from the liquid solution separated in the separation step to obtain ashless coal. This method for manufacturing ashless coal improves the cohesion of the coal components not soluble in the solvent by using coal of a prescribed particle size to perform the extraction step.
