PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of applying an appropriate edge offset.SOLUTION: An edge index of a current sample is generated, and an edge offset corresponding to the edge index is applied to the current sample. The edge index is generated by utilizing a differential value between the current sample and two samples adjacent to the current sample that are determined depending on an edge offset type. Accordingly, by generating the appropriate edge index, a differential value between an original sample and a restored sample can be effectively reduced. In addition, by fixing a sign of the offset to a positive value or a negative value, a bit amount required for reducing the differential value can be reduced. |
