The present invention relates to: a composition comprising an Artemisia capillaris extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient and having anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and skin whitening activities; and to a method for manufacturing an Artemisia capillaris extract with increased anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and skin whitening activities, or a fraction thereof. Specifically, the Artemisia capillaris extract extracted with water, alcohol, or a mixed solvent thereof, or the fraction thereof has excellent anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and skin whitening activities, particularly exhibits excellent concentration-dependent effects in inhibiting melanin generation in a melanoma cell which is a melanocyte, and exhibits high activities with a small amount. Accordingly, the composition comprising the Artemisia capillaris extract or the fraction thereof as an active ingredient of the present invention can be usefully applied to cosmetics, soap, medicine, or a food composition. |
