The present invention provides a molded composite object having further improved strength and a layered product, the molded composite object comprising a plurality of expanded synthetic resin particles and, formed among the expanded particles, a cured resin obtained from a thermosetting resin and containing reinforcing fibers, the expanded particles and the cured resin having been integrally bonded, characterized in that the resin constituting the expanded particles is an aliphatic-polyester-based resin and the flexural modulus E (MPa) of the molded composite object and the density ρ (kg/m3) thereof satisfy the following relationship (1).
