The present invention relates to a composition comprising Lactobacillus casei as an active ingredient for preventing, alleviating, or treating Th1-mediated immune diseases or Th2-mediated immune diseases. Lactobacillus casei of the present invention is capable of effectively controlling Th1-mediated immune diseases or Th2-mediated immune diseases, by activing control T cells, increasing generation of IL-10 which is anti-inflammatory cytokine, inhibiting generation IL-12 which is immune-activating cytokine, and reducing an amount of IgE antibodies produced. Therefore, the composition can be used as an anti-allergic composition and an anti-inflammatory composition.
