An electronic card with a programmable magnetic band which operates to emulate a magnetic stripe on a payment card. The card connects to a smartphone for reducing the amount of cards in a wallet using a NFC protocol. The electronic card with programmable magnetic band includes a magnetic stripe emulator, NFC communication unit, energy harvesting battery management, and high level security. Buttons are used to enter a personal code for using a default card. The card can be used on all payment terminals, and devices that can read magnetic stripes.

1. A system for performing credit card and debit card transactions comprising:
a) a card having a predetermined form factor; b) a battery unit disposed on said card; c) a near field communications unit disposed on said card; d) a magnetic stripe emulator disposed on said card; e) at least one programmable magnetic band disposed on said card; f) a microcomputer unit disposed on said card; g) at least one button disposed on said card; wherein said battery supplies power to said microcomputer unit which is electrically coupled to said near field communications unit, and said at least one button, and said microcomputer unit is configured to operate said magnetic stripe emulator to send signals to said at least one programmable magnetic band and said near field communications unit based on signals received from said at least one button and said near field communications unit, said signals sent to said at least one programmable magnetic band for generating a desired set of magnetic pulses by said at least one programmable magnetic band.
