The methods described herein employ measuring relaxin levels, and optionally measuring C-reactive protein levels in a biological sample of a pregnant woman. The disclosure further encompasses methods of reducing risk of preeclampsia through administration of a pharmaceutical formulation of relaxin to a pregnant woman.
