PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that appropriately determines the type of a recording material specified by a user and is capable of automatically setting printing conditions for the recording material specified.SOLUTION: When a sheet is conveyed on the basis of prescribed setting conditions, a sheet type detection section 404 detects the sheet type of the conveyed sheet on the basis of a detection result of a media sensor preliminarily provided in a sheet conveyance path and a sheet type detection table preliminarily provided. A sheet type determination section 405 determines whether or not the detected sheet type of the detected sheet coincides with the sheet type set in the setting conditions. An inquiry section 406 displays a sheet type selection screen which allows a user to select a sheet type and allows for an inquiry from the user about selection of a prescribed sheet type. A table correction section 407 corrects the sheet type detection table so that the detected sheet type coincides with the selected sheet type when the selected sheet type is different from the detected sheet type. |
