1. A rotational atherectomy system, comprising:
a rotational driver capable of driving rotation in first and second rotational directions; a drive shaft operationally connected with the rotational driver and comprising wound wire filars and arranged to spin-to-open when rotated in a first rotational direction and spin-to-close when rotated in the second rotational direction that is opposite the first rotational direction; a rotational speed limiter in operative connection with the rotational driver, wherein rotational speeds are limited to less than 5,000 rpm; and a rotational controller in operative connection with the rotational driver and rotational speed limiter, wherein the rotational controller controls the rotational driver's rotational direction and/or speed in a non-sustained mode. |
