A degradation detection method comprises the following steps of: detecting a first initial light quantity in a first region of a display panel and a second initial light quantity in a second region of the display panel; controlling the temperature of the display panel to one or more measured temperatures by using one or more luminance patterns; detecting a first measured light quantity in the first region and a second measured light quantity in the second region, at the measured temperature; calculating a first current light quantity in the first region at a preset target temperature based on the first measured light quantity at the measured temperature; calculating a second current light quantity in the second region at the target temperature based on the second measured light quantity at the measured temperature; and determining whether to operate an afterimage correction algorithm by comparing a ratio of the first current light quantity to the first initial light quantity and a ratio of the second current light quantity to the second initial light quantity.
