A retaining device (40) for a rear seat (30) includes: a strap (50) mounted to the rear seat (30); an engagement section (60) mounted to the front end (51) of the strap (50); and a stationary section (70) capable of engaging with the engagement section (60). The stationary section (70) is located near the upper part of a through-anchor (14) provided to a pillar (12) in order to hold a webbing belt (13) for a front seat (20). The engagement section (60) comprises: a first section (61) to which the front end (51) of the strap (50) is mounted; and a second section (62) capable of being mounted to and removed from the stationary section (70). The first section (61) is tilted in the direction in which the first section (61) avoids the through-anchor (14) when the second section (62) is engaged with the stationary section (70).
