PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active substance for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which gives a high output characteristic and battery capacity when used for a positive electrode of a battery and can achieve a high electrode density, and to provide a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the positive electrode active substance, which gives a high capacity and high output.SOLUTION: A lithium manganese cobalt complex oxide is produced, which comprises planar secondary particles in an aggregated form of a plurality of planar primary particles overlapping on planar surfaces thereof. A shape of the complex oxide projected in a direction perpendicular to the planar surface of the planar primary particles is sphere, ellipse, oval, or a planar projection of a massive substance. The secondary particles have an aspect ratio of 3 to 20 and a volume average particle diameter (Mv) of 4 μm to 20 μm measured by a laser diffraction scattering method. |
